THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2010:

* Mr Warneke and some friends go to the Oasis Bar in the Roebuck Bay Hotel on Dampier Terrace, in the WA Kimberley town of Broome

* They later continue to the Bungalow Bar Nightclub on Dampier Terrace

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2010:

2.15am

* Mr Warneke leaves the Bungalow Bar with three other people and they walk down Dampier Terrace, right onto Napier Terrace then right onto Hamersley Street

* As they pass McDonald's, Mr Warneke says he wants to eat. The friends continue on without him

* Mr Warneke approaches a white Mitsubishi van asking the driver to order takeaway food for him through the drive-through service. Mr Warneke is observed walking to the rear doors of McDonald's near the rubbish bay

2.34am

* Mr Warneke is observed walking away from McDonald's

2:45am

* Mr Warneke is seen walking at the intersection of Old Broome Road and Short Street, heading north towards Roebuck Estate where he lived

2:54am

* A taxi driver travelling on Old Broome Road sees Mr Warneke lying on the side of the road. The driver swerves around him and continues toward Roebuck Estate to drop off passengers

* Shortly after, another passing taxi driver sees Mr Warneke and stops to check on him. Police and ambulance officers pronounce him dead at the scene.
