Ten-match ban for WAFL player after tackle left another in hospital

West Perth footballer Mitchell Antonio has been suspended for 10 games over the tackle that landed East Perth's Beau Chatley in hospital with serious neck and spinal injuries.
Antonio faced a closed hearing at WA Football League tribunal on Tuesday night, where he pleaded not guilty to rough conduct.
Based on the evidence before it, the tribunal determined he was guilty of rough conduct and handed down a 10-match suspension.
Chatley, 21, suffered serious spinal injuries from a clash where he landed on the back of his head and was unable to move during the second quarter of a reserves match in Leederville on Saturday.
He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in a serious but stable condition.
On Tuesday, Chatley showed improvement in his right arm, East Perth Royals said in a statement.
