TAB sale not off the table yet: McGowan

Premier Mark McGowan has conceded selling state-owned betting agency TAB may be difficult because it could have an adverse affect on WA's credit rating but he insists it is not completely off the table.

Mr McGowan said on Wednesday Treasury had given him the advice but opposition leader Mike Nahan said he wasn't told this when he was treasurer.

"Obviously there's further implications of selling the TAB above just the simple issue of the racing industry," Mr McGowan told reporters.

"We're not necessarily opposed to selling the TAB if the racing industry wants it but there's an obvious complication that we would need to deal with to make sure there wasn't a further adverse implication on the state's finances."
