Suitcase body murder: Police inch closer to possible breakthrough

WA police may have worked out the identity of the mystery woman found dead inside a suitcase in a Perth river more than two months ago.

Speculation that a breakthrough may be imminent follows two days of intensive searching by police of a house in Perth.

There are reports the dead woman may be linked to the Mosman Park property, a western suburb in Perth.

The woman's identity has so far eluded police since the blue suitcase containing her body was discovered dumped in the Swan River by a member of the public on July 2.

Detectives again pressed the public for information late last month, sharing police sketches of how the dead woman may have appeared with different hair colours.

The woman's body had suffered "significant" injuries, but had not been shot, as some media initially reported.

Police experts have described her as Asian, about 158cm tall, 59kg and aged between 30 and 50.

Her body was found wedged inside a large blue suitcase, which also contained several distinctively patterned tiles.

A scooter, which had a wooden chopping board attached to it, was discovered submerged in the river next to the suitcase.
