Three dead after car flips on its side after slamming into a tree in Perth's east

Three people have died in a single vehicle crash in Perth's east.

Witnesses say they heard revving seconds before a high powered car came off the road, landing sideways between two trees in Stoneville.

The car was later extracted from the bushes by emergency services, barely recognisable following the triple tragedy on Stoneville Road.

"The roof semi ripped open so yeah pretty, pretty mangled and it's an old car too, so it's made out of proper steel," a witness told 9News.

Three adults were inside the vehicle when, police say, it crashed into a tree just before 9am today.

The trio were critically injured and died at the scene.

The street was blocked off for hours while first responders dealt with the aftermath.

"[The car] was up on its side, it was wedged between two trees that are only, I don't know have a look at it - it was only 1.5, maybe 2 metres wide on the side," another witness said.

"It was pretty totalled but yeah we tried to see if there were plates on there to see if we could identify who they were, or if they were locals."

Nearby residents say they heard revving before a loud bang with no sounds of breaks.

One witness told 9News she saw the car careen past her, before veering onto the wrong side of the road moments before impact.

Major crash investigators are still trying to piece together the cause of the crash.
