Shotgun-wielding man shot dead by police in Perth

A man who was shot several times by police while he sat in the passenger seat of a car carrying a shotgun in Perth’s hills has died.

Police said the 29-year-old man was carrying the firearm in a Ford Falcon Sedan in Darlington when police opened fire around 5.30pm yesterday.

Police administered first aid and St Johns Ambulance officers attended but the man died at the scene, WA Police said in a statement.

Major Crime Squad detectives are investigating the shooting and a separate inquiry is being conducted by the Police Internal Affairs Unit.

Police have asked anyone with information to come forward.
