Serco escapee faces WA court

A 28-year-old prisoner who sparked a two-day manhunt after he escaped custody has appeared in a Perth court.

Bradley John McIntosh-Narrier appeared via video link from the maximum-security Casuarina Prison in the Stirling Garden Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He was not required to enter a plea and remanded in custody.

Police allege McIntosh-Narrier escaped custody on January 17 while receiving treatment at the Joondalup Health Campus for an injured hand.

It is believed he escaped by climbing through the ceiling of a bathroom while under the custody of prison transport contractor Serco guards.

McIntosh-Narrier then allegedly stole two cars, leading police on a short chase through Armadale in one of the vehicles before he was recaptured.

Police charged him with 29 offences, including escaping lawful custody and armed robbery.

He is scheduled to appear in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on August 27.
