Retrial set for 'meow meow' stabbing case

A man who killed a fellow Irishman while high on the drug 'meow meow' after a Perth rave will face a retrial in September.

Vincent Martin Crowe, 34, confessed to stabbing Kenyon "Kenny" Meyler, 21, in the neck while socialising with friends at a Scarborough unit on February 10, 2013.

He pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but West Australian prosecutors pushed ahead with a murder charge.

After a fortnight-long trial in the WA Supreme Court the jury was unable to reach a verdict.

The court heard that before the attack Crowe took the stimulant mephedrone, otherwise known as meow meow, and was unable to recall killing Mr Meyler.

Crowe was scheduled to face a retrial this month but it was put off because an expert witness was involved in an accident and unable to testify.

The new trial will start on September 16
