A Perth family home has been destroyed in Quinns Rocks after it was engulfed in flames overnight.

The fire broke out at the Yorlor Street home at about 1am this morning, starting in the garage.

DFES has confirmed the blaze was caused by the family’s computer equipment.

Neighbours have described flames billowing from the family home and hearing 52-year-old resident, Pete Gannaway screaming for help as he tried to control the blaze.

It took a number of fire crews around two hours to control the blaze.

The fire caused $200,000 damage.

The Quinns Rocks father and the neighbour who came to help were taken to Joondalup hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation but were discharged a short time later.

The parents from the family of four, with two children aged four and ten, this morning returning home to assess the damage finding nothing but the mess that the fire left behind.
