About 238,000 hectares of prescribed burning has been completed this season in Western Australia, making it the best result in 29 years.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife has conducted 91 burns since July last year at national parks, conservation reserves and state forests.

The department aims to have 45 per cent of its managed land in the south west forest regions with a fuel age of less than six years.
