Police dog hunts down axe-wielding burglar

Police have captured an axe-wielding burglar who was on the run in a leafy Perth suburb with the help of a helicopter and the dog squad.

The Lockridge man was interrupted while breaking into a Dalkeith home and ran off towards the river, but was tracked through bushland by police dog Freddie.

The man faces four charges including being armed in a way that may cause fear. He will face Perth Magistrates Court later on Wednesday.
