Plane makes an emergency landing in WA

A small plane carrying two people has made an emergency landing at an airport in Western Australia's South West region.

The female pilot and her male passenger, who were both experienced pilots, alerted traffic control about 10.30am on Monday after noticing a problem with the landing gear.

The twin engine plane circled Bunbury Airport to reduce the amount of fuel in its tanks before making the emergency landing and sliding along the runway just before 12.30pm.

No one was injured but as a precaution, the plane was hosed down by firefighters to reduce the risk of a blaze.

A crane will be used to remove the plane from the runway, police said.
