Pilbara residents warned of floods

Residents in Western Australia's Pilbara region have been urged to take precautions as minor floods are expected in the coming days.

With water expected to be fast flowing and levels due to rise rapidly, residents have been advised to prepare relocation and emergency kits, relocate equipment and livestock, and avoid storm drains, pipes, ditches and ravines.

Motorists have been advised to take care in flooded areas and on gravel roads, and to watch out for slippery or muddy surfaces in which cars could become bogged.

Drivers have also been warned not to drive into water of unknown depths.

Residents in the De Grey River, Pilbara Coastal Rivers and Fortescue River catchments may be affected.
