Woman rescued from ferocious house fire

Neighbours have pulled a woman to safety after she was trapped in the backyard of her Perth home by a ferocious fire.

Her landlord who lives in the front of the Hamilton Hill house worked with neighbours to get her over the back fence.

19-year-old Eleanor White helped rescue the 54-year old-woman.

“The whole sky was just in flames, it was really a sight, it was terrifying. We're trying to get some chairs and some stable horses,” she said.

The woman rents a granny flat at the back of the home.

Neighbour Linda White says the landlord and neighbours used a ladder to get her over the fence while the back of the home continued to burn.

The 54-year-old was rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital with serious burns to her upper body -she’s listed as critical but stable.

The young family living in the front of the house wasn't hurt.

Just 30 minutes after the Hamilton Hill blaze started, firefighters responded to another fire in North Perth.

The family inside also got out safely but the second story has been badly damaged - the bill estimated at $700,000.

Fire investigators are looking in to what caused both fires.
