A family cat has been rescued from a house engulfed in flames in Perth’s northern suburbs and resuscitated by firefighters.
The cat had moved into the Kallaroo home on Delaware Place at about 9:30am when the fire broke out in the back of the rental property.
Firefighters rescued the 12-year-old cat and placed it on the ground in a driveway across the road and resuscitated the animal with an Oxy-Viva taking 15 minutes.
The cat’s owner says firefighters kept it alive before taking it to a vet where it’s receiving treatment.
A 45-year-old woman who lives at the property was rushed to Joondalup hospital with smoke inhalation.
About 15 firefighters responded to the blaze and had it under control in half an hour.
Neighbours said they heard a series of loud bangs with flames reaching about 20 metres high.
Firefighters say the blaze doesn’t appear to be suspicious. The home owners are insured.
