The new Perth stadium is officially the home of AFL in WA.

A long-awaited deal was finally signed today to guarantee the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers games will be played at the Burswood ground/

It follows years of wrangling between the WA Football Commission and the State Government.

9NEWS understands it will be officially announced on Sunday by the Government and the AFL.

It means the Eagles and Dockers can start selling their memberships, which has caused a cash flow problem for both clubs.

The Eagles were taking a thousand calls a day from anxious fans.

The government will pay football $10.2-million a year for the next ten years as part of the deal to leave Domain Stadium.

There is mechanism to negotiate that deal over a 50-year term.

There is still some work to be done on the future of Subiaco Oval but it's likely to remain the home of the WA football commission and centre of excellence.
