Service station worker makes citizen’s arrest on armed offender

A Perth service station worker has made a citizen’s arrest overnight after an offender began stealing food.

Police say the man entered a Victoria Park service station at about 11:30pm.

A Coles Express worker confronted the offender who police say pulled out a knife which led to a scuffle at the front of the service station.

The thief tried to run away but the worker chased after him, pinning him down until police arrived.

Witnesses from across the road at McDonald’s rang police and then crossed Canning Highway to join in the citizen’s arrest.

Police have confirmed the offender had two knives strapped to his body at the time.

A 32-year-old man from East Cannington has been arrested and charged with one count of aggravated Robbery.
