Perth man slashed chasing burglar

A burglar who threatened to kill a resident slashed the man's chest while escaping from a Perth house.

The 20-year-old victim was woken by the noise of the break-in at his Salter Point home just after 5am on Monday and confronted the intruder, who threatened to kill him.

He chased the fleeing man, catching him in the front yard, police said.

During a scuffle, the man was slashed across his chest.

The intruder then broke free and fled in a car parked out the front with two other people inside.

The victim has received treatment for several injuries.
