Perth killer's remorse leads to guilt plea

A brain-injured man has told a West Australian court that remorse over his murder of a Perth woman led him to plead guilty to the offence.

Michael David Hansen, 42, on Wednesday admitted to murdering 44-year-old Genevieve Elna Clark at her home in Dianella, in Perth's northern suburbs, on July 26 or 27.

Police found her body three days later when they were called to the property.

Hansen wept before pleading guilty in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via video link from Hakea Prison.

He wanted to plead guilty because of his remorse, Hansen's lawyer said, adding that Hansen had a history of brain injury.

Hansen will appear in the West Australian Supreme Court on December 15.
