A man has been charged after a Perth council worker died in hospital from injuries sustained when he was hit by a ute while standing next to a rubbish truck.

The City of Perth confirmed on Thursday that the 48-year-old victim died at Royal Perth Hospital on Wednesday afternoon following the Roe Street crash in the early hours of Monday.

The 20-year-old driver of the ute had been charged with manslaughter, failing to ensure assistance was provided to a victim of a traffic incident and being a novice driver exceeding zero blood alcohol content.
