Perth cleaner stumbles upon gold bar

A 2.5kg gold bar found by cleaners at a Perth property is being analysed by police.
A pure gold bar of that weight would be worth more than $100,000 but it is likely to be worth much less than that and is being tested.
The bar, which measures about 22cm x 5cm, was discovered on the 22nd of last month and promptly handed in to Cottesloe Police.
Police suspect the bar may be less than 50 per cent gold, and say, as The West Australian reports, that small bumps can be felt in the metal.
The apparently “mixed” nature of the bar may suggest that it was made from a combination of melted-down, possibly stolen jewellery, but police have stressed that proper analysis is needed to confirm these suspicions.
