Teenage boy charged with murder after mother killed, sister critically injured in stabbing

A teenage boy has been charged with murdering his mother and attempting to kill his younger sister in a stabbing at a Perth home.
Police said they were called to a home in Bentley about 6.15am on Tuesday, where they found a 35-year-old woman dead.
Police said the girl was able to flee the home, before contacting police and being found in a nearby suburb. 9News
CCTV from less than 15 minutes earlier shows a girl running down Albany Highway in what appears to be her dressing gown.
Having run 600 metres down the street into Cannington, she called Triple Zero before receiving life-saving care.
Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo said members of the public intervened to assist the girl.
“We’re very thankful that members of the public stopped and assisted the female,” she said.
Police believe the pair suffered injuries at the Bentley home, but that the girl was able to get away and call police.
Securo said both had injuries consistent with stab wounds.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to Perth Children’s Hospital, where she is suffering from serious injuries and continues to receive treatment.
Police arrested a 16-year-old boy and took him into custody.
The boy was known to police, Securo said.
On Wednesday morning, he was charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted unlawful killing.
He will face Perth Children’s Court today.
Securo said the incident was being investigated as a suspected family violence incident and that it would shake the local community.

“This incident will have a significant impact on the family, friends and loved ones of those involved … our thoughts are with all involved, especially the 12-year-old girl who remains in hospital,” she said.
“We ask that their privacy be respected.”
A crime scene was declared at the Bentley home as police investigated.
First responders were offered counselling due to the confronting nature of what they found.
Detectives are examining any previous interactions the family or teenager had with authorities.
