A man will not stand trial over the killing of his wife and a friend, a Perth court has heard.

Nikol Stoeski appeared in the West Australian Supreme Court on Thursday via video link from the maximum-security psychiatric unit Frankland Centre at Graylands Hospital accused of killing Vanesa Farcich, 31, and Sasu Filkovski, 37.

Police arrested Stoeski after they found the victims' bodies in separate houses in Girrawheen in May 2013.

Defence lawyer Seamus Rafferty told the court if Stoeski was found fit to plead, the matter would proceed to sentencing.

Stoeski was remanded in custody for further treatment and is scheduled to appear in court for a status conference on October 30.
