New Perth stadium on track
Construction of Perth's new 60,000-seat stadium is on track and the first of two causeways for the Swan River pedestrian bridge will be completed this week from the Burswood Peninsula.
The Perth Stadium is 35 per cent complete and is due to open in time for the 2018 AFL season, WA Transport Minister Dean Nalder said.
The Swan River pedestrian bridge will be used by more than 14,000 people on major event days.
A second causeway on the other side of the river will start being built, with both causeways to provide construction platforms and receive piles delivered by barge from Fremantle.
They will reduce the river's width from 320 metres to 60 metres but will be removed by the time the bridge is finished early next year.
