Nationals WA want Woodside camp rejected

The Nationals WA have demanded the Labor state government reject Woodside's bid for a 700-bed fly-in fly-out camp in the north.

Premier Mark McGowan on Thursday accused the Nationals of hypocrisy and reiterated that negotiations were still underway for a Karratha camp and no decision had been made.

But Nationals leader Mia Davies said Woodside was "clearly gearing up" for the $400 million camp and had made decisions around seeking approvals and bringing on contractors.

"That gives us great concern that there's already a nod and a wink basically that that will be forthcoming," she told reporters.

Ms Davies said the Nationals did not support FIFO camps within 60km of an established community and described Karratha as the "jewel of the north".

Under Woodside's plan, worker accommodation would be set up at the site of the existing Bay Village and the company announced last week that a consortium was the preferred tenderer to construct and manage it.

Woodside Vice President Australia Business Brad Russell-Lane said on Thursday that the facility would ensure worker health and well-being.

Ms Davies said that upon returning to government the Nationals would terminate any lease Labor signs.
