A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder over the death of Peter Anthony Jarman, who was pulled from an apartment fire in North Perth last weekend.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at Mr Jarman's Charles Street apartment just after 10.30am on June 3, about eight hours after he caught an Uber home following a night shift at a nearby supermarket.

The 49-year-old was critically injured and rushed to Royal Perth Hospital but died a short time later.

A family member issued a statement via police, thanking the efforts of neighbours and emergency services who responded.

"We have lost a very loved family member and friend who will be forever in hearts," they said.

Forensic officers took six days to examine the scene and charged a man from Hocking, in Perth's north, with murder and criminal damage by fire on Saturday night.
