'Bloody ripper': Meteor lights up skies above Perth
The Western Australian sky was briefly set alight overnight after a bright green meteor blazed through the atmosphere.
Stunned residents witnessed the fireball about 8.50pm illuminating the sky above Perth and its surrounding areas.
Nine news viewer Mitchell was driving on the Forrest Highway, south of Perth when he captured the spectacular display.

The Perth Observatory said they were inundated with dashcam and images from people who captured the phenomenon.
"That was a bloody ripper," they said in a social media post.
"Our Facebook page, info email address and phones have been inundated with people who saw this beautiful meteor tonight at 8.50 pm from around the south west of WA."
"The team at Curtin University's Desert Fireball Network are trying to work out the trajectory of the meteor because it's so bright, the Earth may have gotten a few kilograms heavier with a meteorite somewhere in the southwest of WA."
