Teenager who allegedly severed man's arm due to face court

A 19-year-old has been charged after a 40-year-old man's arm was cut off outside a Western Australian home.

Police were called to a home on Collins Street at Piccadilly in Kalgoorlie on Wednesday to respond to reports of a serious assault.

It will be alleged a physical confrontation occurred outside the property between two men, who police say are known to each other.

The 40-year-old man went to Kalgoorlie Hospital with life-threatening injuries, including a severed arm.

He was then flown to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

Police launched an investigation and charged a 19-year-old from South Kalgoorlie yesterday.

His bail was refused and he is due to appear before the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court today.

He faces several charges including one count of aggravated grievous bodily harm, one count of carrying or possessing an edged weapon, and two counts of possessing a controlled weapon.
