Man hurt as train crashes into car in WA

A man has serious injuries after a train laden with alumina smashed into his car, which is believed to have been parked on railway tracks in Western Australia's south.

The train was pulling 36 carriages and heading towards Bunbury just before 3am on Wednesday when the collision happened.

The driver, 62, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be cut free before being airlifted to hospital.

The train driver was treated for shock.
