Man dies in head-on crash in WA's south

A 69-year-old man has died in a head-on collision on a highway in Western Australia's Great Southern region.

A sedan driven by a 17-year-old girl veered into the path of the man's panel van on a bend near the town of Wagin on Sunday afternoon.

The panel van rolled down an embankment and its driver, a man from nearby Woodanilling, died at the scene.

The Katanning teenager's car burst into flames in the middle of the road but she escaped and was taken to the local hospital for treatment.
