Man found dead and another missing in WA floodwaters

A man’s body has been found and another is missing in flood waters ravaging southeast Western Australia.

Police discovered the 68-year-old man’s body about 10.30am today, after his car was swept away north of Esperance overnight.  

Meanwhile, authorities continue to search for a missing 74-year-old man.

His car was found submerged in floodwaters east of Ravensthorpe this morning, police said.

Floodwaters continue to rise in the state’s Wheatbelt region, with several small communities warned to be ready if evacuations occur.

Residents in Northam, Beverley, York and Toodyay are advised to watch for changes in water levels, to prepare emergency kits and to drive with caution due to possible water or livestock on roads.

There are dozens of road closures across the Shires of Northam, York and Toodyay and the TransWA Prospector train has been replaced by coaches.
