A 25-year-old man has been charged with trespass after he allegedly ran onto the WACA pitch after the Twenty20 clash and hugged players.

Police said the Duncraig man climbed over a fence from the spectators area just after the Perth Scorchers beat the Melbourne Stars on Sunday, making their way into the Big Bash final in Canberra on Wednesday night.

Footage of the match showed the man jubilantly running onto the ground as the crowd cheered, putting his arms around the players and jumping for joy.

Several Scorchers members smile as the man enthuses.

He is then seen dodging security guards as he tried to make his way back to the spectator stand.

The man is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on February 17.
