Man charged after partner attacked

A 38-year-old woman is fighting for her life after her partner allegedly assaulted her at their home in Western Australia's far north.

Police say the attack took place on Saturday at their Kununurra residence and the woman remains in hospital in Darwin.

The 48-year-old man has been charged over the assault and a previous assault that occurred in February, and will appear before the Kununurra Magistrates Court later on Thursday.
