Man charged after Bunbury port car death

A man has been charged over the death of a woman whose body was found inside a car in the water off Bunbury port, south of Perth.

Specialist police divers found Michelle Welhan's body inside the submerged car on Saturday morning after the car was seen plunging into the water at 4.50am.

A man was seen in the water soon after the crash, but left the scene.

A 44-year-old Withers man has now been charged with dangerous driving causing death and failing to report an accident.

He'll appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court on April 3.
