Man caught by police dog after wild chase

A police dog named Brock has brought an alleged car thief to heel after a wild chase in Perth in which a police car was rammed by a stolen car that hit a fence and veered into a dam, the driver then fleeing on foot.

Police tried to stop the stolen Commodore towing a trailer in Greenmount, in Perth's outer east, at about 12.10am (WST) on Friday.

The 28-year-old was pursued until the vehicle hit a fence and became wedged in it.

He then reversed the car and trailer, hitting the front of the police vehicle, and sped off before going down a slope into a water catchment at Midvale and fleeing on foot.

Brock chased the man, who was then arrested.
