Liberal hopeful plans to run for Canning
AAP
A former demolition and earthworks businessman plans to contest the Canning by-election in Western Australia.
Steve Marshall, 57, lives in Kelmscott and says he hopes to run as the Liberal candidate, but will run as an independent if unsuccessful in gaining preselection.
He said he would push for a referendum on marriage equality and more attention on depression and suicide, especially among rural workers.

The seat of Canning was left vacant after the sudden death of veteran Liberal MP Don Randall, who had a suspected heart attack while visiting his constituents.
