Indian Navy ships arrive in Fremantle port

A joint naval exercise between India and Australia will take place off the West Australian coast, in a bid to enhance co-operation between the two navies.

Indian Navy ships Shivalik, Jyoti and Kamorta arrived in Fremantle port on Tuesday, and will be open to the public for tours on Wednesday. The Australian Navy is represented by HMAS Newcastle, HMAS Waller and Clearance Diving Team Four.

Commander Australian Fleet, Rear Admiral Stuart Mayer said the week-long exercise, now in its second year, showed commitment to increasing maritime security in the Indian Ocean region.
