Flood warning for WA's Wheatbelt

Floodwaters continue to rise in Western Australia's Wheatbelt region, with several small communities warned to be ready if evacuations occur.

Variable flooding is expected on Sunday and coming days, with quick rising and fast flowing water, the Department of Fire and Emergency says.

Residents in Northam, Beverley, York and Toodyay are advised to watch for changes in water levels in case of evacuations, to prepare emergency kits and to drive with caution due to possible water or livestock on roads.

Moderate flooding is expected along the Avon River in Toodyay, with the level at Stirling Terrace 3.74 metres on Sunday morning.

There are dozens of road closures across the Shires of Northam, York and Toodyay, and the TransWA Prospector train has been replaced by coaches.
