Elderly man in virus checkpoint car chase
AAP
An elderly man allegedly led police on a chase after speeding through a COVID-19 checkpoint northeast of Perth.
Police say the 82-year-old man was told he was not allowed to pass through the checkpoint about 28km west of Toodyay on Sunday but proceeded anyway, ignoring another officer's signal to stop.
He was pursued into the townsite, with police eventually stopping his jeep using a tyre deflation device, and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
