Early WA Police Christmas traffic blitz

The annual Christmas season traffic and crime blitz is beginning a fortnight earlier than usual in Western Australia, but double demerits will not kick in until December 21.

WA Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan said police were striking earlier this summer with a plan to get ahead of the seasonal spike in offending.

The focus will be road offences linked to fatal and serious crashes, burglary, stealing, theft, family violence and anti-social behaviour, particularly in entertainment precincts and at planned events, with specialist officers targeting related crimes such as drug dealing.
