Driver mistakes WA sinkhole for puddle

A West Australian driver has been left going nowhere fast after the road gave way and their car became stuck in a sinkhole.

Sunday's incident happened when the driver went through a puddle of water, getting the front of the car stuck at Cape Burney, north of Perth.

The Water Corporation said a damaged water main caused the hole in the road and they were investigating the cause.

Sinkholes can be up to 600 metres deep and are caused by collapses of the surface layer.
