Dont dismiss hospital 'grizzlers': AMA WA

West Australian Premier Colin Barnett should listen to the concerns of doctors who have complained about problems at Fiona Stanley Hospital, rather than dismissing them as "grizzlers", says the AMA president.

After the senior doctors sent a long letter to The Sunday Times, listing concerns including a culture of bullying and fear of dismissal if they spoke out, Mr Barnett labelled them "grizzlers" and their comments "quite outrageous".

Australian Medical Association president Michael Gannon said some of the staff were afraid for their jobs, given the state government has flagged more than 1100 job cuts at WA hospitals.

"There is a real disconnect between the hospital management and the staff there," Dr Gannon told 6PR on Monday.

"They don't feel as if they can talk about these things in public.

"I think he should listen to those concerns and not just dismiss them."
