Death in police custody at Perth home

A 27-year-old man has died in police custody during a search at a home in Perth's inner suburbs.

Detectives from the State Crime Commanded had arrested the man at the Ascot residence on Monday afternoon when his health deteriorated and paramedics were called. He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital but was unable to be revived.

The Homicide Squad and Internal Affairs Unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
