Dangerous sex offender to be freed

A 55-year-old intellectually disabled and mentally ill dangerous sex offender will be released from jail after his continuing detention order was rescinded.
The man, referred to in Supreme Court of West Australia court documents as AA, has been in prison for almost 20 of the past 28 years after committing various serious sexual offences between 1986 and 2003.
On Monday, his continuing detention order was rescinded and replaced with a 10-year supervision order, under which he must abide by 46 conditions including that he reside in a private psychiatric hostel.
