WA prison escapee found in car boot

A prisoner, described by police as dangerous, who escaped from a jail in Western Australia's Goldfields region a fortnight ago has been found in a car boot.

Dylan Doughty, 21, broke out of Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison in Boulder on the evening of June 15.

Police said on Wednesday that Doughty, who was on remand for property offences and considered dangerous, had been found.

He was discovered when they stopped a car on Forrest Street and searched the boot.

Doughty has been charged with escaping from lawful custody and is expected to appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court later on Wednesday.

Inquiries are continuing with two other people who were in the vehicle when it was stopped, police say.
