CPSU accepts WA government's wage offer

West Australian public servants have voted to accept the state government's inflation-capped wage offer.

The Community and Public Sector Union/Civil Service Association advised on Friday that the majority of members who voted in the ballot supported the offer of 2.75 per cent, 2.5 per cent and 2.5 per cent pay increases over the next three years.

Acting branch secretary Rikki Hendon said the approved offer was better than the original, which was 2.5 per cent for each of the three years.

The offer is in line with the state government's new inflation-capped wages policy for public servants.

But CPSU/CSA members would not accept a similar offer next time around, Ms Hendon warned.

"We will continue to challenge the way government views the public service, its responsibility to the community and the way it values its employees," she said.

Police and firefighters have already accepted the state government's offer, but the Health Services Union WA is holding out.

It has threatened industrial action and is calling on WA Health Minister Kim Hames to make a better offer.

Late last month, both the HSUWA and CPSU/CSA expressed anger that the WA Salaries and Allowances Tribunal granted parliamentary backbenchers a 3.8 per cent pay rise.
