A Perth man had a lucky escape after two people allegedly leaped into his car, claimed to have a machete and demanded he drive them to a bus station.

Police say the 23-year-old victim had just pulled into the driveway of his Nollamara home in the afternoon on Boxing Day when a man and woman got into the car and demanded he drive them to the Morley bus station.

During the drive, the pair argued and when the car stopped at traffic lights near the Coventry Markets, the woman got out and walked towards the BP service station.

The man tried to grab her and fell out of the car as the victim sped away.

A 40-year-old man is facing a charge of threats with intent to compel an act, but police are still investigating and are urging witnesses to come forward.
