WA mother's stabbing accused faces court

A 38-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his former partner and her 33-year-old housemate in an attempted double homicide in their Geraldton home has faced court.

The 36-year-old woman and the other victim are both in hospital in Perth in critical conditions after undergoing emergency surgery overnight.

Police allege the accused, Lennie Kenneth Gregory Smith, who is reportedly the father of her three children, broke in to the home on Fuller Street, Bluff Point about 11.30pm on Wednesday.

The Drummond Cove man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated burglary and breaching a violence restraining order.

He appeared in the Geraldton Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody until December 15.
