Catastrophic fire warning for parts of WA

Fire crews are on high alert as catastrophic fire conditions are expected for southeastern Western Australia.

A Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating has been issued for Monday and will affect the eastern parts of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the Shire of Dundas.

"These are the worst conditions for a bush or grass fire," the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said on Sunday in a statement.

"If a fire starts and takes hold it will be extremely difficult to control and will take significant firefighting resources and cooler conditions to bring it under control."

Those who are not well prepared are urged to leave the area early in the day.

Warm and windy conditions are expected across the state and an extreme fire danger rating is also forecast for the Gascoyne, Goldfields, South Interior, Inland Central West - South and Ninghan areas.

A severe fire danger rating is forecast for Pilbara, Inland Central West - North, Esperance Shire Inland, Mortlock and Jilbadgie.
