Brynne Edelsten to face drug charges in Perth court

Melbourne socialite Brynne Edelsten is expected to enter a plea over a prohibited drug charge when she appears in a Perth court on Monday.

Edelsten has been charged with possessing MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.

High-profile lawyer Tom Percy appeared on behalf of Edelsten in Perth Magistrates Court in June.

The US-born Edelsten is best known for her marriage to Australian businessman Geoffrey Edelsten, who is 40 years older.

They wed in a lavish $3 million affair at Melbourne's Crown Casino in November 2009.

The couple split last year, with Brynne citing her husband's dalliance with another woman as a reason for the bust-up.
